Think about what is different here? What makes this a challenge? Can you use skills you already know to figure out the intercepts here?

We are given the following line equation:

4x+5y=20

We are asked to determine the x and y-intercepts of the line. To do that, we will convert the given equation into the following form:

(x)/(a)+(y)/(b)=1

Written in that form the value of "a" is the x-intercept and the value of "b" is the y-intercept. Therefore, we need to divide the given equation by 20 in order to get a 1 on the right side:

(4x)/(20)+(5y)/(20)=(20)/(20)

Simplifying we get:

(x)/(5)+(y)/(4)=1

Therefore, the y-intercept is 4 and the x-intercept is 5.
