Substitute x = g(x) into f(x) , that is

f(5x + 4)

= 3(5x + 4) - 2

= 15x + 12 - 2

= 15x + 10

(b)

note (g ○ f)(x) = g(f(x))

Substitute x = f(x) into g(x) , that is

g(3x - 2)

= 5(3x - 2) + 4

= 15x - 10 + 4

= 15x - 6
