when we reflect an image over the axis we change the sign of the different coordinates.

If we reflect over the x-axis, the x-coordinate stays the same and the y-coordinate changes it sign.

If we reflect over the y-axis, the y-coodinate stays the same and the x-coordinate changes it sign.

According to this if we reflect A(3,7) over the x-axis, the coordinates for A' are (3,-7)

If we reflect to this if we reflect A(3,7) over the y-axis, the coordinates for A' are (-3,7)

The red point is point A

The blue point is the reflection over the y axis.

The green point is the reflection over the x axis.
