The linear equations are 2x-3y=-4 and -5x+9y=7.

Multiply the equation 2x-3y=-4 by 3 to make coefficient of y equal in both equation.

\begin{gathered} 3(2x-3y=-4) \\ 6x-9y=-12 \end{gathered}

The coefficent of both equation are equal.

In second step add both equation and simplify further for vraible x (as variable y is eliminated from the equation).

\begin{gathered} 6x-9y-5x+9y=-12+7 \\ x=-5 \\ \end{gathered}

The value of x is equal to -5.

Substitute -5 for x in equation 2x-3y=-4 (or in -5x+9y=7) to obtain the value of y.

\begin{gathered} 2(-5)-3y=-4 \\ -10-3y=-4 \\ -3y=-4+10 \\ y=(6)/(-3) \\ y=-2 \end{gathered}
