We know that the shorter side measures 10 inches, and the perimeter is 52 inches.

We have to use the perimeter formula

P=2(w+l)

Where l = 10 inches, and P = 52 inches. Let's replace these values

52=2(w+10)

Now, we solve for w

\begin{gathered} (52)/(2)=w+10 \\ 26=w+10 \\ w=26-10 \\ w=16 \end{gathered}

Hence, the longer side measures 16 inches.
