10(3)/(4)-4(7)/(8)

To simplify, write each mixed number as a proper fraction.

To write a mixed number as a proper fraction add the whole part and the fraction part.

Addition and substraction of fractions:

(a)/(b)\pm(c)/(d)=(ad\pm bc)/(bd)

Write 10 3/4 as a porper fraction:

10+(3)/(4)=(40+3)/(4)=(43)/(4)

Write 4 7/8 as a proper fraction:

4+(7)/(8)=(32+7)/(8)=(39)/(8)

Then, you have the next substraction of fractions:

undefined
