Given:

A street sign in the shape of an equilateral triangle.

The side length of each side is 22 inches

We will find the exact altitude of the triangle

Note: the altitude of the equilateral triangle will divide it into two right angle triangles

And each a right angle triangle is a special triangle a 30-60-90 triangle

The hypotenuse = 22 inches

And the altitude is the side opposite to the angle of 60°

So, the length of the altitude =


(√(3))/(2)*S=(√(3))/(2)*22=11√(3)

So, the answer will be:

Exact answer: 11√3

Decimal approx: 19.05
