We want to find the solution for the following equation

3y-8=25

If we perform the same operation on both sides of the equation, we're going to keep the equality.

To solve this problem, first we're going to add 8 to both sides.

\begin{gathered} 3y-8+8=25+8 \\ 3y=33 \end{gathered}

Now, if we divide both sides by 3 we're going to get the answer.

\begin{gathered} (3y)/(3)=(33)/(3) \\ y=11 \end{gathered}
