According to the given data we have the following system of equations:

y-5=x.

x=-2-y

In the second equation x=-2-y, so we would substitute the x of the first equation with x=-2-y

Hence, if y-5=x

y-5=-2-y

y+y=-2+5

2y=3

y=3/2

If y=3/2, we would calculate the value of x by substitue in the second equation.

So, x=-2-3/2

x=-3.5
