Bethany's class took a field trip to an amusement park. During the day Bethany became separated from her class. It is now time to leave, and she needs to find the right bus to get on to go back to school. Bethany attends Washington Elementary. In the parking lot there are 3 buses from Washington Elementary, 5 buses from Adams Elementary, and 9 buses from Jefferson Elementary Unfortunately, all these buses look alike. If Bethany goes up to a bus at random, what is the probability that it will be the wrong bus?

Notice that we have:

3 buses to Washington E

5 buses to Adams E

9 buses to Jefferson E

So, a total of 17 buses

Notice as well that Bethany belongs to Washington E, so her chnces of picking the right bus will be a chance of 3 over the total of 17

That is the quotinet: 3/17

In decimal form: 0.17647

which in percent form becomes about 17.65%

So type you answer depending on what form your teacher is asking (they normally want percent, but other teachers prefer the exact fraction form)
