In the formula

(1)/(R)=(1)/(R_1)+(1)/(R_2)+(1)/(R_2)

putting in the given values of R_1, R_2, and R_3 gives

(1)/(R)=(1)/(10.0)+(1)/(14.0)+(1)/(35.0)

We add the fractions on the right-hand- side to get:

(1)/(R)=(1\cdot7)/(10.0\cdot7)+(1\cdot5)/(14.0\cdot5)+(1\cdot2)/(35.0\cdot2)
(1)/(R)=(7)/(70)+(5)/(70)+(2)/(70)
(1)/(R)=(14)/(70)=(1)/(5)

Taking the reciprocal both sides gives

R=5.0

Which is our answer!
