A vertical building is 8m tall. The angle of elevation from a point (a) on the ground to the top of the building is 37°. The angle of elevation from another point (b) to the top of the building is 30°.

The point A is closer to the building than B.

tan 37 = 8/x where x is the distance of A from the building

tan 30 = 8/y where y is the distance of B from the building.

Distance between A and B = y - x.

x = 8 / tan 37 = 10.616 m

y = 8 / tan 30 = 13.856

So, AB = 13.856 - 10.616

= 3.24 m to the nearest hundredth
