We break apart the question.

Let the number we are looking for be "n".

Four times a number is:

Here, four times is "4n".

Greater than, simply the sign ">"

Now,

sum of TWICE the number and five, so we can write:

2n + 5

this is the SUM of 2n and 5

Making them write together, we have:

4n > 2n + 5

This is the inequality representing the word problem.
