From the scale drawing, the dimensions are 8 inches by 5 inches.

Let x represent the length of the shorter side of the rug. Given that the length of the longer side of the actual rug is 32 feet, it means that

8/5 = 32/x

By crossmultiplying, it becomes

8 * x = 5 * 32

8x = 160

x = 160/8

x = 20

Therefore, the area in square feet, of the actual rug is

32 * 20 = 640 ft^2
