Solve. A bag of fertilizer covers 2,000 square feet of lawn. Find how many bags of fertilizer should be purchased to cover a rectangular lawn 210 feet by 140 feet. Hint: Find the area of the lawn first.

First, calculate the area of the rectangluar lawn:

Area of a rectangle = lenght x width = 140 x 210 = 29,400 ft2

Divide the area of the rectangular lawn by the area that covers each bag of fertilizer:

29,400 / 2,000 = 14.7 bags = 15 bags
