Answer:

y= (1/2)x + 0 or y = 2x

Explanation:

We'll look for an equation with the form y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b the y-intercept (the value of y when x = 0).

We're told the slope is (1/2). That gives us y = (1/2)x + b

We need a value of b that will force the line through point (4,2). Find B by entering the one known point in the equation we have thus far:

y = (1/2)x + b

2 = (1/2)*(4)+b for point (4,2)

Now find b:

2 = (1/2)*(4)+b

b = 2 - (1/2)*(4)

b = 2 - 2

b = 0 [the value of y at x = 0 is 0.

The equation is y= (1/2)x + 0 or y = 2x

See attached graph.
