Perimeter is the surrounding of a geometrical figure

this figure is formed by the union of two surfaces.

One surface is a rectangle, the other a semicircle

Perimeter of rectangle is= 12+16+12+16 =56

BUT we must substract 12 , because this is not part of the perimeter then

Rectangle part perimeter= 12+16+16= 44

Now find perimeter part of semicircle

Length of semicircle is 2• π •r/2 = π•r

Perimeter of semicircle part = π•r -12 = π•6 -12

Now add both perimeters and obtain

44+ π•6-12= 32+π•6

2ND PART

Find area of the figure in blueprint

This area is formed by the union of a rectangle and a semicircle, as we now

then, is simply to add both areas

Area of rectangle= b•h = 12•16 = 192

Area of semicircle= π•(r^2)/4 = π•(6^2)/4= π•9

now adding both areas to obtain

Area 1+ Area2= 192+ π•9
