How do you determine if an ordered pair is a solution to a given equation? (there's no data)

The equation contains two unknown variables. They are usually x and y. The ordered pair would be written as (x, y). To determine if the ordered pair is a solution of the equation, we would substitute the value of x into the equation. If the resulting value of y is the same as the one in the ordered pair, then the ordered pair is a solution to a given equation
