Amanda and Joyce spent 3 1/3 hours at the lake.

For 1/3 of that time, they went fishing. To find the time spent fishing, we multiply both fractions:

3(1)/(3)\cdot(1)/(3)

We must express the mixed fraction as an improper fraction as follows:

3(1)/(3)=3+(1)/(3)=(3\cdot3+1)/(3)=(10)/(3)

Now we use the following equation to find the amount of time they spent fishing:

(10)/(3)\cdot(1)/(3)=(10)/(9)

They spend 10/9 hours fishing, we found that by multiplyingT
