Shapes From Slicing a Cube

We are shown a cube, let's say of side length x.

The plane intersects the cube in such a way the length of the shape is the diagonal of the upper surface of the cube.

Since all the lateral surfaces of the cube are squares, the diagonal d of the shape is:

d=\sqrt[]{2}x

The height of the shape equals the height of the cube, that is, h=x.

The shape is, then, a rectangle of two side lengths equal to d and two side lengths equal to x

Answer:

B. Rectangle
