Answer:

x= 3.33 y=-5.667

Explanation:

2x+4y=-16

24-12x+y=-16

Graph them both

2x + 4y = 24 - 12x + y = -16-example-1

Wehave the following:

\begin{gathered} 2x+4y=24 \\ -12x+y=-16 \end{gathered}

solving:

\begin{gathered} 2x+4y=24\Rightarrow(2)/(2)x+(4)/(2)y=(24)/(2)\Rightarrow x+2y=12\Rightarrow x=12-2y \\ \text{replacing} \\ -12\cdot(12-2y)+y=-16 \\ -144+24y+y=-16 \\ 25y=-16+144 \\ y=(128)/(25) \end{gathered}

now, para x

\begin{gathered} x=12-2\cdot(128)/(25) \\ x=(44)/(25) \end{gathered}

The answer is x = 44/25 and y 128/25
