Mrs Henderson is wrapping gifts. For each of two of the gifts, she will need 4/5 sq. ft. of wrapping paper. For the last gift, she will need 2/3 sq. ft. of wrapping paper. Should she buy a 2 sq. ft. roll or 3 sq. ft roll of wrapping paper? Explain your answer.

For each of the two gifts, she need 4/5th sq. feet.

Total she needs is


(4)/(5)+(4)/(5)=(8)/(5)

For last gift, she needs 2/3rd sq. feet.

Thus, adding, we have:


\begin{gathered} (8)/(5)+(2)/(3) \\ =(8(3)+2(5))/(15) \\ =(24+10)/(15) \\ =(34)/(15) \\ =2(4)/(15) \end{gathered}

Thus,

Mrs. Henderson will need more than 2 sq. feet as we can see.

Hence, she should buy the 3 sq. ft. roll to wrap all her gifts.
