When the equation of a parabola has the form:

y=a(x-h)^2

The parabola opens up when the value of a is positive and opens down if the value of a is negative.

In this case, with the equation y = (x – 3)^2 we can see that the value that is multiplying the term in the parentheses is 1, and since 1 > 0, the parabola opens up
