If PT is an altitude, then it divides the line into two right angles (that is 90 degrees each).

If

\begin{gathered} \measuredangle PTR=8x-6 \\ 90=8x-6 \\ \text{Collect like terms and you have;} \\ 90+6=8x \\ 96=8x \\ \text{Divide both sides by 8} \\ 12=x \\ \text{Therefore, if RT=x-6 (and x=12)} \\ RT=x-6 \\ RT=12-6 \\ RT=6 \end{gathered}

Therefore, line segment RT = 6
