In order to solve the previous inequality, proceed as follow:

- Subtract 6 in all parts of the compound inequality:

-4 - 6 < 2x + 6 - 6 < 6 - 6

-10 < 2x < 0

- Next, divide by 2:

-10/2 < 2x/2 <0/2

-5 < x < 0

Then, the solution is -5 < x < 0
