You pick a card at random. Without putting the first card back, you pick a second card at random. 3 4 5 6 What is the probability of picking an odd number and then picking an even number? Simplify your answer and write it as a fraction or whole number.

Let:

A = pick an odd number

B = pick an even number

so:


\begin{gathered} P(A)=(2)/(4)=(1)/(2) \\ P(B)=(2)/(3) \end{gathered}

Since they are independent events:


P(A\cap B)=P(A)\cdot P(B)=(1)/(2)\cdot(2)/(3)=(2)/(6)=(1)/(3)
