2x+3y=12

Step 1

subtract 2x in both sides ( the equation is not affected because we do the same operation on each side)


\begin{gathered} 2x+3y-2x=12-2x \\ 3y=12-2x \end{gathered}

Step 2

divide each side by 3


\begin{gathered} 3y=12-2x \\ (3y)/(3)=(12)/(3)-(2)/(3)x \\ y=(-2)/(3)x+4 \end{gathered}

so, the answer is y= -(2x/3)+4
