We want to conver the number shown below to decimal:


-2(9)/(10)

We keep the whole number "-2" aside and work with the fractional part 9/10th.

We divide 9 by 10 and get:

9/10 = 0.9

Then we tag along the whole part, so it becomes:

-2.9
