Rewrite the number 395 as 400-5 to be able to solve the multiplication on an easier way:


5*(395)=5*(400-5)

Use the distributive property to expand the parenthesis and find the answer:


\begin{gathered} 5*(400-5)=5*400-5*5 \\ =2000-25 \\ =1975 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the numbers that should be written over the lines, are 400 and 5.
