f(x)= 2x^2 + 5

g(x)= x^2 - 2

(f-g)(x)= (2x^2 + 5 ) - (x^2 - 2 )

Distribute the minus sign:

(f-g)(x)= 2x^2 + 5 -x^2 + 2

Combine like terms

(f-g)(x)= x^2 + 7 (option C)
