joey dropped his phone and his screen cracked. His parents are making him pay for its repair. The cost of the repair is at least $150. In order to cover this bill, Joey has started babysitting for $10 per hour and working part-time at Trader Joe's for $15 per hour. He can work at most 20 hours a week. How many hours could he work at each job to earn the money he needs in the time he has?

Answer:

6 hours each job

Explanation:

Let's break this down:

Given information-

Need 150 dollars

10 per hour job

15 per hour job

Can only work 20 hours a week

Set this up with an equation:

150=15x+10x

The x stands for the fact that the hours are unknown

To solve for x, do 15+10

150=25x

x=5

So, plug the 6 back in

15(6)=90

10(6)=60

This does equal 150. Joey needs to work 6 hours at each job(which is less than 20!) to earn 150 dollars.
