In order to solve this equation for x, we can do the following steps:

1) Multiply the equation by 9:

\begin{gathered} 2-(4)/(9)x=6 \\ 9\cdot(2-(4)/(9)x)=9\cdot6 \\ 18-4x=54 \end{gathered}

2) subtract 18 from both sides:

\begin{gathered} 18-4x-18=54-18 \\ -4x=36 \end{gathered}

3) Divide both sides by -4:

\begin{gathered} -(4x)/(-4)=(36)/(-4) \\ x=-9 \end{gathered}

So the value of x is -9
