We are given the equation

17w=425

and told to solve for w. To do so, we have to apply mathematical operations on both sides, so you isolate the variable w on one of the sides. In this case, we simply divide both sides by 17. So we get

w=(425)/(17)=(25\cdot17)/(17)=25

So, the value of w for which the equation is valid is w=25.
