We have two functions:

\begin{gathered} g(x)=2x \\ h(x)=x^2+4 \end{gathered}

We have to calculate (h o g)(a).

We can do this as:

\begin{gathered} (h\circ g)(a)=h(g(a)) \\ (h\circ g)(a)=(g(a))^2+4 \\ (h\circ g)(a)=(2a)^2+4 \\ (h\circ g)(a)=4a^2+4 \end{gathered}

Answer: d) 4a^2 + 4
