The formula for the volume of a cylinder is

V=\pi r^2h

To make h a subject divide both sides by pi r^2

a)h=(V)/(\pi r^2)

The volume is 32 cubic inches

V = 32

The radius is 4 inches

r = 4

Use pi = 3.141

\begin{gathered} h=(32)/((3.141)(4^2)) \\ \\ h=(32)/((3.141)(16)) \\ \\ h=0.637\text{ inches} \end{gathered}

b) The height is 0.637 inches
