We are given a rectangular prism.

Length = 20 cm

Width = 8 cm

Height = 16 cm

c) What is the area of each of the faces?

The left and right faces are identical and their area is given by

Right face = 8×16 = 128 cm²

Left face = 8×16 = 128 cm²

The front and back faces are identical and their area is given by

Front face = 20×16 = 320 cm²

Back face = 20×16 = 320 cm²

The top and bottom faces are identical and their area is given by

Top = 20×8 = 160 cm²

Bottom = 20×8 = 160 cm²

d) Add up the areas of all of the faces.

Let us add the areas of all the faces obtained in part (c)

Total area = Right+Left+Front+Back+Top+Bottom

Total area = 128+128+320+320+160+160

Total area = 1216 cm²
