Solution

In ΔFGH, line FG ║line IJ

And the following dimensions are given

\begin{gathered} \text{IF}=15 \\ HI=12 \\ JG=20 \\ HJ\text{ is unknown} \end{gathered}

To find HJ, usingthe formula for the ratio of similar triangles, i.e

(HI)/(IF)=(HJ)/(JG)

Substitute the values into the formula above

(12)/(15)=(HJ)/(20)

Crossmultiply and solve for HJ

\begin{gathered} 12*20=HJ*15 \\ \text{Divide both sides by 15} \\ HJ=(12*20)/(15) \\ HJ=16\text{ units} \end{gathered}

Hence, HJ is 16 units.
