Tell whether the point (-5,5) is on the graph of f(x)=|x|. If it is, give the coordinates of another point with the same y-value.

Notice that |x| means the absolute value of x. So, the function:


f(x)=|x|

takes x to the number with the same magnitude, but with a positive sign.

Thus,


f(-5)=|-5|=5

Therefore, the point (-5,5) is on the graph of f(x).

Now, we need to find another point with a y-value of 5.

Observe the graph of f(x):

Notice that another point with a y-value equal to 5 is (5, 5) because
