Since the function f(x) is already factored, we can equate each factor to zero to find the x-intercepts:


\begin{gathered} x+1=0\rightarrow x=-1\\ \\ x-9=0\rightarrow x=9\\ \\ x-1=0\rightarrow x=1 \end{gathered}

Since the factors (x+1) and (x-9) have exponent 1, the graph crosses the x-axis at x = -1 and x = 9.

Since the factor (x-1)² has exponent 2, the graph touches the x-axis and turns around at x = 1.
