Since the lines are paralel within each other both will have the same slope.

Find the slope for the line with the given coordinates using the definition

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

name the points

point 1 = (8,-4)

point 2 = (4,2)

replace in the definition

\begin{gathered} m=(2-(-4))/(4-8) \\ m=(6)/(-4) \\ m=-(3)/(2) \end{gathered}

The slope of a line parallel to one with the coordinates given is -3/2
