You can see that both equations are written in the form


y=mx+b

Where m indicates the slope of the line and b the intercept of the line with the y axis.


\begin{gathered} y=2x+7 \\ \text{and} \\ y=2x-4 \end{gathered}

As you can see, both lines have slope m = 2. By definition, two lines are parallel if they have the same slope.

Therefore, the two lines are parallel.
