Peppa is putting up a fence in his backyard to enclose a garden in a form of a triangle. the gardeners are already has sides and clothes with 8 ft and 5 ft of fence , respectfully. what can you say about the length of the third side?

Let

x -----> the length of the third side

Remember that

The Triangle Inequality Theorem states that the sum of any two sides of a triangle must be greater than the measure of the third side

so

Applying the theorem

we have

8+5 > x

13> x ------> x< 13 ft

and

5+x>8

x>8-5

x>3 ft

the length of the third side is the interval (3,13)

therefore

the answer is option A
