Given the figure below:

The Similarity Theorem states that triangle BCD can only be similar to triangle ACE if the condition below is satisfied:


(BC)/(AC)=(BD)/(AE)=(CD)/(CE)

otherwise, they are not similar.

So, applying the above formula, we get


\frac{2}{2+2_{}}=(3)/(5)=(3)/(3+1.5)
(2)/(4)=(3)/(5)=(3)/(4.5)

Clearly, we have that:


(2)/(4)\\e(3)/(5)\\e(3)/(4.5)
