The prices are as follows;

Gatorade = $2 per bottle

Powerade= $4 per bottle

Total sale in the period was =$ 412

Number of Gatorade sold = 18 more than two times the number of Powerade sold

Let us take the number of Powerade sold to be ------ p

Two times the number of Powerade sold will be -----2p

18 more than two times the number of Powerade sold will be -----2p + 18

so, the number of Gatorade sold = 2p + 18

Now form an equation for total sale as;

$2 {2p +18 } + $4 {p} = $412 -------------equation for total sale

solve the equation to find the value of p

open the barckets as;

4p + 36 + 4p = 412

collect the like terms

4p + 4p + 36 = 412

8p + 36 = 412

8p = 412-36

8p = 376

p = 376/8

p= 47

Answers

The number of Powerade sold is ------ p--- 47 bottles

The number of Gatorade sold is-----2p + 18 = 47*2 + 18 = 112 bottles
