opposite side = 100 mph

Adjacent side = 700 mph

To find the value of resultant speed,

by Pythagoras theorem,

Resultant speed is,


\begin{gathered} R^2_s=(100)^2+(700)^2 \\ R_s\text{ }=\sqrt[]{500000} \\ =707.1 \\ \approx707 \end{gathered}

The resultant speed is 707 mph
