Sammy and her friends have $30 to go to the movies but they still need 14.3% to get the full amount and they need 2.9% for an uber. How much do they need to get the full amount for the movies and the uber?

For this problem, we are told that a group of friends have $30, but they need more money for the tickets and uber. We need to calculate how much they need based on the percentages.

The base value is $30, they need 14.3% more for the ticket and 2.9% more for the uber. So we have:

\begin{gathered} \text{ uber}=(2.9)/(100)\cdot30=0.87\\ \\ \text{ ticket}=(14.3)/(100)\cdot30=4.29 \end{gathered}

They need $4.29 more for the ticket and $0.87 more for the Uber.
