The equation is

4 + x = 9

The first option (option 1) is the wrong one. Translating this equation in differnt ways all translate to options 2, 3, and 4.

However option 1 says, "nine is a number added to four." Option 2 says, "A number added to four is nine." Option two is a play with words, and it actually means, an unknown number added to four will result in nine, which is what the equation shows. Whereas option 1 really means nine which a known number is added to four, and this is not in agreement with the given equation.
