Mike and Lilly are working together on a science project. They agreed to meet halfway between their houses and ride theirbikes to the library together.The coordinate of the Lily's house is (-2,2) and mikes is (-4,2) and library is (4,6) Approximately how far will Mike and Lilly ride to the library once they meet each other at thehalfway point?

Given data:

The coordinate of Lily;s house is (-2, 2).

The coordinate of Mike's house is (-4, 2).

The coordinate of library is (4,6)

The cordinate of mid point is,

((-2-4)/2, (2+2)/2))=(-3,2)

The distance between mid point to the Library is,


\begin{gathered} d=\sqrt[]{(4+3)^2+(6-2)^2} \\ =\sqrt[]{49+16} \\ =\sqrt[]{65}\text{ units} \\ =\sqrt[]{65}\text{ miles} \end{gathered}

The distance they need to travel is (65)^(1/2) miles.
