Let the number of chickens be x and the number of rabbits be y.

It is given that there are 100 animals on the farm so it follows:

\begin{gathered} x+y=100 \\ y=100-x\ldots(i) \end{gathered}

A rabbit has 4 feet and chicken has 2 feet and it is given that the total number of feet is 260 so it follows:

2x+4y=260\ldots(ii)

Substitute (i) in (ii) to get:

undefined
