Indigo Depot is having a clearance sale of their summer items. A swimsuit that originally cost $70 before any discount is on sale for 20 % off. If the swimsuit is then puton clearance for an additional 40 % off the sale price, what is the final price? Round your answer to the nearest cent, if necessary.

Given:

A swimsuit that originally cost $70 before any discount is on sale 20% off

Then 20% of that mean price is 80% of the price:

\begin{gathered} =(80)/(100) \\ =0.8 \end{gathered}

Originally price 70$ then:

\begin{gathered} =70*0.8 \\ =56 \end{gathered}

After 20% off the price is 56.

The swimsuit is then put on clearance for additional 40% off the sale price and the sale price is 56.

40% of that mean price is 60% so:

\begin{gathered} =(60)/(100) \\ =0.6 \end{gathered}

So price is 60% of the 56.

\begin{gathered} =56*0.6 \\ =33.6 \end{gathered}

So price is 33.6
